Pooja Makhijani is the author of picture books including Mama’s Saris and Bread Is Love, and her work has appeared in prominent publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and NPR. Pooja is a New Jersey State Council on the Arts 2026 Individual Artist Fellow.
