| JD Solomon, a longtime Westfield resident, is a retired journalist and marketing consultant. A lifelong history buff, he is the author of two historical novels. His most recent, Home News, is set in his hometown of Bay Shore, NY, in 1928 and features a cub reporter chasing a story about a bootlegging gang. Home News won first place in a national fiction writing competition. JD's first novel, The Tinen Killings, is set in Philadelphia in 1898. This novel wraps the true story of his wife's great-great-grandfather, a Union officer in the Civil War, in fictional story about a ruthless financial swindler. In retirement, JD presents stories about historical true crime to senior groups and assisted living facilities.
