Join us for a scenic hike to the secluded northern tip of Sandy Hook during beach plum ripening season! This approximately 2-mile round-trip walk will take us across loose beach sand and along the water's edge, where you may encounter shallow water along the way, so be prepared to get your feet wet. Our destination is Sandy Hook Point, the northernmost tip of the peninsula, where we'll enjoy spectacular views of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, Coney Island, and perhaps some huge ships passing just offshore. Along the way, we'll have the opportunity to climb the observation tower for a look at the area's unique coastal landscape, and, if we’re lucky, pick and eat beach plums. Wear comfortable footwear suitable for sand and shallow water. LED BY KIRK BARRETT
