1200) FLAMENCO FOR BEGINNERS

Ever wanted to try Flamenco Dance?  Here's your opportunity.  Antonia Messina, director of VivaFlamencNJ, will be teaching this rare Beginner class for students who've always wanted to learn but shied away from mixed-level classes. Antonia (who studied in Spain and has extensive performance experience) will teach the basic driving rhythms of flamenco; the graceful movement of arms, hands and fingers; how to use your feet and legs in "zapateado" (footwork rhythms) and performance styles. Short choreographies will be explored in various dance "palos" (forms) including bulerias, tangos, sevillanas and  rumbas. No dance experience necessary.  This is NOT a partner dance but the individualized, passionate expression each student through rhythm and music. No shoes permitted in dance room.
