This document describes the privacy practices of Salem Hospital Community Health Education Center (CHEC)

What information does the Salem Hospital Community Health Education Center (CHEC) collect about me?
When you register for a CHEC class or event, we will ask for your name, address, telephone, email address, and of course which class or event you are registering for. We may collect other information we need to schedule you for the class. If there is a fee for the class, we will also ask for credit card information if you pay by credit card, but that information is not stored or kept by the CHEC - it is sent to the credit card processor and then deleted from our records.

Will the CHEC send me emails?
When you register, you will receive an automatic email confirming your registration and containing links to information about the event you registered for. We may also send you occasional emails listing upcoming CHEC classes and events that you might be interested in. You can opt out of receiving CHEC marketing emails.

How does the CHEC use the information it collects about me?
Salem Hospital uses the information we collect for:
•    Confirming the Salem Hospital Community Health Education Center (CHEC) classes and events you have registered for, and providing receipts for your payments
•    Providing our instructors with class rosters and information about the people registered for their classes
•    Sending you information about Salem Hospital and CHEC upcoming classes, special offers, and similar information
•    Conducting research about our students and their interests, to help us design classes that will meet your needs

Does the CHEC use “cookies”?
We use "cookies" on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on your hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site.

Some of our business partners may also use cookies, we have no access to or control over those cookies.

Does Salem Hospital share my personal information?
The Hospital does not share or sell our student list to anyone outside the hospital. We may share aggregate information that doesn’t specifically identify you, such as statistics about students who attend our classes.

Is my personal information secure?
Precautions are taken to protect your information. When you submit information via the website your information is protected, which can be verified by looking for the closed lock icon near the address bar of your browser and a web address beginning with "https:". This shows that your information is being encrypted while in transit.

While some of your personal information is stored by Salem Health in a secure environment, we do not store your credit card information, it is sent directly to a third party for processing. You can view their privacy policy here: http://www.neact.com/Privacy-Policy.

Where does Salem Hospital Community Health Education Center (CHEC) store my personal information?
Your personal information and data files are stored on the servers of the company that provides our registration software.

Can I review or update my personal information or close my CHEC account?
To request that we delete your email address from our marketing database, deactivate your Salem Hospital Community Health Education Center account, or provide you a copy of your personal information, please email your request to chec@salemhealth.org. Please note that we need to retain some information about you for legal and internal business reasons.

Will the CHEC market to me?
The Salem Hospital Marketing Department may use your information to provide you with information about Salem Hospital services and educational opportunities.
