Denise Asfar holds an honors B.A. in Romance Languages and Literature from Princeton University; an M.A. from Brown University in Teaching English; and CT state teaching certificates in English, French, and Latin. As educational examiner at ETS (Educational Testing Service), she developed material for tests of English and prospective theater teachers; wrote and directed corporate-sponsored performances at employee events; and directed Studio recordings of professional voice-over actors for multi-media testing programs. On the adjunct Arts and Sciences faculty of Rider University’s Westminster Choir College, she has taught Dramatic Literature as well as foreign languages.
Her life-long passion for theater has inspired her long involvement in various aspects of dramatic arts: Teaching and directing student theater (Dowling College Upward Bound; Hope High School); script-writing and script-editing; directing and performing in professional audio- and video-recordings; published reviews and featured roles in community theater, including Shakespearean and other classical productions; theater reviews and feature articles for local newspapers (The Princeton Packet’s Time Off, Princeton University’s Daily Princetonian); hosting various Shakespeare readings and theater trips in the Princeton area; and developing seven new courses on Shakespeare plays, which she taught at the Princeton Adult school.
