Ryan Lilienthal

Ryan Stark Lilienthal, a resident artist at the Takaezu Studio and design histories lecturer at Rutgers University, is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, and educator, who seeks to harness analog and digital media to explore social justice themes. Lilienthal draws on his career as an immigration attorney for the visual vocabulary in his work. Since the early 1990’s, documents—legal and legislative—frame Lilienthal’s professional life. Significantly, Lilienthal’s grandparents’ flight from Nazi persecution and the Holocaust’s trans-generational impact percolates through his installations and surfaces in his drawings, paintings, and collaborative sculptures.
