037) Show, Don't Tell: The Secret of Good Writing

“Show, don’t tell” is the most frequently offered piece of advice for helping writers produce compelling, evocative work that engages readers’ imaginations and keeps them reading. But what does it mean, and how do we do it? This workshop explores techniques for showing through action, reaction, vivid sensory detail, and crisp dialogue. Participants will learn to identify and revise moments of telling in their own writing and share brief in-class work. Open to writers of all levels and genres.
