Did you know that the United States Constitution is the oldest written constitution in the world? In this course, we will cover recent leading Supreme Court cases—(1) Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which reversed Roe v. Wade—a precedent that held that a right to abortion could be found in the Constitution; (2) Citizens United v. FEC, which opened the door to unrestricted spending on political campaigns; (3) the decision in Trump v. United States, granting broad immunity to the President from criminal prosecution; and (4) the tensions arising from hate speech (upheld in Brandenburg v. Ohio as permissible under the First Amendment) and the growing echo chamber of social media.
