In this class, learn sewing skills on the sewing machine while also learning to make basic garments such as pajama pants and bags. Learn to recycle old clothing items into new creations: toys, pillows, zipper bags and grocery tote bags and more! The possibilities are endless! Let your imagination and creativity be your guide after you finally become close friends with your sewing machine. Both your closet and your wallet will thank you!
Students are responsible for their own materials, but the use of a sewing machine is included in the class. Please bring fabric scissors, thread, fabric, tape measure, needles, and straight pins to every class. Suzanne will be available to answer additional questions on materials at the first class.
Suzanne Rogalsky Art has been a lifetime journey for me. I began “crafting” as a child. I made whatever I could from anything I could find. My art path turned toward textiles when I was a young adult as I discovered that sewing my own clothes could be an excellent means of self-expression. I made my first quilt in my mid-twenties and that resulted in having three quilts in juried shows in Lancaster, PA., which was the heart of quilting at the time. Learning mixed media art was the next logical step as it combines fiber and paper arts together with lots of thread, gesso, paint and collage! I make quilts and other fabric items such as purses and ties from wedding dresses, and use thread and a sewing machine to “draw” on other people’s creations under my business name Sunny Stitches. I have been teaching my love of sewing, quilting, mixed media and journal making to others for over 20 years. I truly believe that everyone is creative and I hope to bring the freedom of expression and the gift of uniqueness out of every student.
