This class is ideal for the beginner and others who would like to try out a variety of media. Students will have the opportunity to utilize charcoal, pencil, ink, colored pencil and acrylic paint. Each session will focus on different materials and the techniques that go with them. Learn how to use, as well as how to mix several media. Find out which ones are best for your own style, or just enjoy the fun of creating and experimenting! Instructor customizes the sessions to fit the students needs and interests. This is a relaxing and comfortable course for both beginners and for those who have some art background.
Please bring the following:
- Drawing pencils – hard & soft
- White or clear glue, like Elmer's (not washable)
- Eraser – kneaded
- Watercolor pencils
- Acrylic paint & a few brushes
- Palette & palette knife
- Watercolor paper or canvas, canvas board, 11 x 13 or larger
- Drawing paper, any type not too thin., 11 x 13 or larger
Susan Antin’s work expresses the joy of life through the use of vivid colors and fantasy themes. She uses a variety of media, but primarily acrylic paint, colored pencil and ink. Her images express playful, child-like ideas in a surreal, abstract style. Susan is an experienced artist and business person. She received a BA in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. While continuing to develop her artwork, Susan established a career in corporate training and marketing. Her paintings and drawings can be found in numerous private collections. Susan has been represented in many exhibitions, including the Westmoreland Nationals, Westmoreland College (Pennsylvania), Montgomery Center for the Arts (Montgomery, NJ), Johnson & Johnson Corporate Gallery (Skillman, NJ), the Arts Council of Princeton and Williams Gallery (Princeton, NJ). Susan is the Artistic Director for Gallery-NJ, an online gallery that exhibits and sells fine art of New Jersey Artists (www.gallery-nj.com). She is the Chairperson for Arts on Division in Somerville NJ and is a member of the ACP in Princeton, Farmstead Arts Center in Basking Ridge, NJ and The Printmaking Center of New Jersey in Branchburg.
