Prerequisite:  Computer Knowhow, Internet Navigation - Communications 

This course will train the student to perform the basic duties of medical/dental billing & coding, for the processing of claims that are transmitted and processed by a nationally recognized clearinghouse to selected insurance payers for payment.  This course is aimed at expanding the job knowledge of the customer/client or patient service oriented person and preparing the student to obtain a "startup" job as billing clerk within a medical/dental office, clinic or hospital environment.  High emphasis will be placed on serving the needs and processing claims for the underserved patient within these communities.

The widely used Medisoft/Practisoft practice manage-ment system and Direct Electronic Claims Transmittal Software will be used for this training.
