Our Spanish classes are grouped into two levels: Beginning and Intermediate. Each class picks up where the previous one left off, so students joining any class beyond Beginning Spanish 1 should have finished the prior class or feel confident they have the equivalent background.

BEGINNING LEVELS: All beginning level classes will focus on Spanish pronunciation, everyday vocabulary, and mastering the present tense. (Some classes may be slightly ahead of or behind the descriptions provided below, but these are  a general rule for what is covered in each level). Textbook: Barron's Spanish Now! Level 1, Ninth Edition, by Ruth Silverstein.

• Beginning Spanish 1 is the perfect starting point if you've never studied Spanish before (or if you're returning after a long absence), with a focus on learning basic vocabulary and introductory grammar.
• Beginning Spanish 2 - vocab plus gender of nouns, plurals, AR, ER, IR verbs, interrogative words
• Beginning 3: vocab plus days, months, seasons, irregular verbs, prepositions A, De and the verb ser
• Beginning 4: vocab plus the verb estar, adjectives, comparisons, higher numbers, and Usted commands.
• Beginning 5: vocab plus possessives, demonstratives, stem changing verbs, direct and indirect object pronouns.

INTERMEDIATE LEVELS: Intermediate Spanish classes follow the same step-by-step structure. They reinforce the basics and introduce new verb tenses for richer expression. Classes are more conversational in nature to allow time to practice new verb tenses. Textbook: Practice Makes Perfect: Spanish Verb Tenses, Premium Fifth Edition by Dorothy Richmond.

• Intermediate Spanish 1: Preterit and  Imperfect tenses.
• Intermediate Spanish 2: Future and conditional tenses.
• Intermediate Spanish 3: Present and Past subjunctive
• Intermediate Spanish Review: Conversation and Grammar Review.
• Intermediate Spanish Conversation: 100% in Spanish, offering the opportunity to develop confidence and fluency through discussions and real-world conversations. Class size is limited to allow ample time for participation. (No textbook required for conversation class).
