236) Fun with Watercolors
 

Watercolors are so versatile and have many qualities that make them fun to work with. Learn how to play with this media and how to control it with tricks and techniques that will help you create intriguing paintings. No watercolor experience is necessary, but some drawing experience is helpful. We will work with salt, ink, spraying, resist, dripping, tilting, and blowing. Abstract, still life, floral, and landscape compositions may be explored. Class open to both beginners and advanced artists.

SUPPLY LIST
There are many options available, spanning a wide range of prices. Listed below are the items needed for class, along with suggestions brands to select if you are just getting started. The Adult School makes every effort to run all of our classes, but in the event that plans change, it is advisable to check the return policy and keep your receipts for supplies.

SUPPLY LIST:
Watercolor paint - Suggested products (choose one): 
    • Prang Oval - 16 Semi-Moist Watercolors
    • Winsor & Newton set of 12 colors, student grade
    • Winsor & Newton set of 12 colors, professional grade 

Plastic palette

Strathmore Series 400, Windsor & Newton (or similar brand) Watercolor Paper: cold press, 140 lb, approx. 8”x10” or 9 x 12

Watercolor Brushes: two brushes, size 10 & size 6, are sufficient to get started (one small brush for fine details, one medium sized pointed round brush, and one mop brush around 1 inch wide is good to have as well)

1or 2 plastic containers for water

small spray bottle

old toothbrush for speckling

pencil and eraser

Sharpie permanent black marker- ultra fine point

paper towels (good quality)

scrap watercolor paper for testing colors etc.

Optional: A portfolio or bag of some sort to carry and protect your work and supplies


Additional Information:
After entering the parking lot, please park to the left in the spaces furthest from the church. Spaces closest to the church are reserved for church staff.
