102) The Forgotten Victory Trail: The Battles of Springfield and Connecticut Farms 1780

Sponsored by The Adult School, Kemmerer Library Harding Township, and Westfield Memorial Library

Learn about the Revolutionary War battles that took place in our own backyards! This program from the Sons of the American Revolution and the Forgotten Victory Trail Association will discuss the last major engagements in New Jersey of the Revolutionary War in 1780 (The Battles of Springfield and Connecticut Farms), when the Continental Army and local NJ Militia successfully repelled British forces looking to capture George Washington and his army in Morristown. The presenter, Bob Gula, will be outfitted with the full uniform of a Private in the NJ Militia during the Revolutionary War, and he will purport to be Jehiel Day (his 5x great-grandfather), a Private in the Morris County Militia - Eastern Battalion, who fought at the Battle of Springfield.
