An exploration of the life and music of Antonio Vivaldi, best known today for his Four Seasons violin concertos. Yet Vivaldi’s legacy goes far beyond this famous work; he composed hundreds of concertos for a variety of solo instruments, as well as chamber music, sacred vocal works, and nearly 50 operas. He spent much of his career as a music teacher at the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, and many of his compositions were written for the orphan girls. His influence reached far and wide, and even J.S. Bach composed arrangements of some of Vivaldi’s works.
