You may enroll in individual hikes by using the codes listed below or register for the hiking series and save $10 by signing up for all three hikes at once. No refunds if hikes are moved to rain dates listed.

Meeting point and parking instructions will be emailed one week prior to hikes.

#1718 Hike 1: Turtleback Rock Hike

Hike about 4 miles at a modest pace over rocky trails with a moderate climb from the Orange Reservoir up the west side of the First Watchung Mountain in Essex County's South Mountain Reservation. Destination: Turtleback Rock -- a fascinating rock formation with a tie-in to the Lenape. Special treat: probable sighting of awesome wildlife visible from no other nature trail in America!  Are you wondering what it is?  You will have to come to find out!

#1719 Hike 2: Tillman Ravine and Buttermilk Falls Hike
 
Revel in peak foliage in beautiful, rugged northwest Jersey as you hike along the creek through the spectacular Tillman Ravine. Afterwards, we will get back in our cars and drive 1 mile and take a short hike to see a hidden waterfall. Then  you will have the option to drive or walk to Buttermilk Falls, New Jersey's tallest waterfall!  If you are energetic and adventurous, you may continue one mile on foot at your own pace to take in the view at Kittatinny Ridge. About 2 miles of hiking on rough ground at a modest pace, with a moderate elevation gain.

#1720 Hike 3: Retrace the 1776 Battle of Fort Washington and Fort Lee

Join us as we walk from Fort Lee across the George Washington Bridge to the former site of Fort Washington two weeks before the 248th anniversary of the battle. We'll take in the gorgeous view from Fort Lee along and across the Hudson River, then cross by foot into New York on the George Washington Bridge to Washington Heights where we will see the site of Fort Washington. After returning to Ft. Lee, view the re-creations of historical buildings and tour the museum on your own.  About 4 miles of walking on paved paths.
