For those who are new to knitting or need a fresher class in the basics of knit and purl stitching, and more. Once the skills are mastered, knitting is relaxing, therapeutic and portable. Knitting uses 2 needles and is ideal for making scarves, sweaters, hats, mittens, socks and much more. Right and left handed knitters welcome. Project: Simple Knit Pillow by Carolyn Hanson (pattern instructions to be supplied by instructor).

- Knit and Purl

- Match yarn to a pattern
- Understand Gauge and it’s importance
- Troubleshooting: Picking up dropped stitches
- Bind Off and Finishing
Supplies Needed:
- Size 13 Needles (metal or bamboo, 24” or longer circular)
- 2 or 3 Skeins Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick Bulky Yarn (Pillow in 2 sizes; Small needs 2 skeins, Large needs 3 skeins) [Note: Recommend using light color yarn for ease of stitching. No fluffy, or fuzzy yarn.] Available at Michaels. For substitutes, contact instructor.
- Stitch Markers (looks like safety pins)
- Tapestry Needle (with eye large enough for yarn)
- Crochet hook size E or F (for picking up dropped stitches)
- Pillow form (12”x20” or 18”x18”) or Polyfill
- Scissors
- Measuring Tape
- Pen
- Project Bag
No class 10/14. Park in the lot at the back of the school off Rahway Avenue and enter building through the parking lot door. A site administrator will direct you to your classroom.
