WWA104 F25) Advanced Wastewater Operation (90 hours)

Covers advanced topics in water treatment and distribution.

  • Key Topics:

    • Water Sources: Surface water, groundwater, and other water sources.

    • Water Quality: Water quality standards, sampling, and analysis.

    • Water Treatment Processes:

      • Surface water treatment (coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration).

      • Disinfection (chlorination, UV disinfection).

      • Water softening, pH adjustment, corrosion control.

    • Distribution Systems:

      • Construction standards, pipe tapping, valves, fire hydrants.

    • Safety: Safety procedures related to water treatment and distribution.

    • Operations & Maintenance:

      • Pump operation, instrumentation and controls, storage tanks, cross-connection control.

    • Record-Keeping & Public Relations: Maintaining records, communicating with the public.

  • Licensing: Satisfactory completion allows participants to apply for an S-2 state license (subject to meeting other requirements in N.J.A.C. 7:1-A-1.15).
