The rigorous training program at Burlington County Institute of Technology Adult Ed adheres to the highest standards of care. CNAs play a vital role in providing essential support and improving the quality of life for individuals in need of long-term care.

Training Requirements include: 50 hours of classroom instruction covering essential topics like patient care, communication, infection control, and safety. Followed by 40 hours of hands-on experience in a licensed long-term care facility, allowing students to apply their learning in a real-world setting. 100% Attendace is required for this program.

• Core Duties: CNAs provide essential patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including:

  • Personal Care: Feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and assisting with toileting.

  • Comfort and Safety: Changing linens, transferring patients, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.

  • Meeting Patient Needs: Addressing the psychological, social, physical, and environmental needs of patients, with a strong emphasis on safety.

CNA Curriculum Focus:

• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Developing effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and their families.

• Infection Control: Learning and practicing proper infection control techniques to protect both patients and healthcare workers.

• Promoting Independence: Assisting patients in maintaining their independence and dignity.

• Resident Rights: Understanding and respecting the rights of residents in long-term care facilities.

• Phased Approach: The curriculum is divided into four modules, with a specific emphasis on completing Modules I and II before providing direct physical care to residents, ensuring a strong foundation of knowledge and skills.

The 90-hour rigorous training program provides a comprehensive foundation in the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. Hands-on experience in a real-world setting is crucial for developing practical skills and gaining confidence in providing patient care. The focus on meeting the psychological, social, physical, and environmental needs of patients emphasizes the importance of providing compassionate and person-centered care.
