Consists of four distinct modules, allowing for flexibility in learning and potentially enabling students to earn certifications for specific skill sets.

  • Comprehensive Training:

    • Covers a wide range of essential patient care skills.

    • Focuses on cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning (knowledge, skills, and attitudes).

  • Core Duties:

    • Direct Patient Care: Assisting with bathing, feeding, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients.

    • Patient Support: Accommodating the special needs of patients and providing emotional support.

    • Vital Signs Monitoring: Obtaining and documenting vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations).

    • Clinical Procedures: Performing phlebotomy and electrocardiography (ECG) procedures (as delegated).

  • Certification Preparation: Prepares students to take the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Program Modules:

I.   Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)                            90 hours

II.  Electrocardiography (ECG) Technician        58 hours

III. Phlebotomy Technician                                160 hours

IV. Introducing The Patient Care Technician         12 hours 

Student can meet with the Program Coordinator to discuss registration for the Program or for Modules I – IV individually.  Please see the indivdual module for the class textbook.  Student must also show proof of completion of all four modules to sit for the CPCT exam.

Course cost does not include Textbooks or Uniform. Does not include cost for CNA Certification that is paid to NJ, DHSS. Includes cost of exam fee (one attempt) for NHA certifications - ECG, Phlebotomy & CPCT.
