Clinical Site COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate

It has just recently been brought to our attention that some of our clinical partners are requiring students in our Allied Health Programs to be fully vaccinated (two weeks or more removed from a 2 dose series of a vaccine or two weeks or more removed after 1 dose of the J&J vaccine) against COVID-19.  As a result of this and in order to attend clincial at some of the sites, students who wish to enroll in our Allied Health Programs need to submit a copy of their vaccination card as part of their normal required prerequisites prior to beginning their program.  Students who enroll in one of our Allied Health Programs and fail to submit their vaccination card as proof of being "fully vaccinated" will not be entitled to a refund, but will need to withdraw from the program. 

Program Requirements:

1. Complete the ATI TEAS test.  Minimum level of "Advanced" (80%) is required for Reading and English and Language Usage.  Minimum level of "Proficiency" (58.7%) in Math and Scienc.  Other eligible test reviewed - TABE 10 and HESI.

2. Attend a mandatory orientation session.

3. Complete all program application forms.

4. Pay required first installment to the program.

5. Submit all program prerequisities by the given deadline: 

Program Prerequisites:

1. Physical, Immunizations, and 10-Panel Urine Drug Test 

2. Criminal Background 

3. Official High School transcript or US equivalent.

4. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Certification - AHA (BLS/CPR Class) 

5. Proof of personal health insurance.

6. Individuals should possess strong communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.  

Entry into Program will depend upon satisfactory submission of required documentation.

Program Description:

Program of Study is Licensed Practical Nursing.  The licensed practical nurse performs tasks and responsibilities within the framework of casefinding; reinforcing the patient and family teaching program through health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive and restorative care, under the direction of a registered nurse of licensed or otherwise legally authorized physician, dentist or nurse practitioner.

This 11-month program of practical nursing provides the education needed to prepare individuals entering the nursing profession as Licensed Practical Nurses, to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN). The curriculum provides students with the knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills, and values that qualify graduates for a career in this field. The program includes courses relating to health science, social science, humanities, nursing theory, lab skills training and clinical experiences in a variety of healthcare settings. Clinical experiences are provided in a variety of healthcare settings under supervision of nursing faculty and qualified healthcare professionals. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from any clinical activity.  The academic andclinical components of the curriculum are equitably distributed throughout the program.

Licensed Practical Nurses seeking continued education in the nursing field are eligible to apply with advanced standing for admission to an approved Associate Degree Nursing program. College credits may also be applicable from an approving college or university.

Program cost does not include Textbooks, Equipment and Uniform (Royal Blue Scrubs-solid without prints/white shoes).  Fees for certification with NJ State Board of Nursing is not included.
