During the school year, we offer educational and fun after-school classes for youth ages 6 - 11 in several topics in both our Manhattan and Brooklyn locations. Students can chose to study Weaving, Printing + Dyeing, Felting, or Sewing + Fashion. Classes are offered by day on a rotating basis, so you can try one or all! Each class is limited to 20 students.

The Textile Arts Center is a unique environment where young artists use their hands to explore the act of making through traditional textile practices. Our program is led by an accomplished team of creative professionals who believe that artistic expression is fundamental to a child's well-being and development. We foster a sense of community and friendship among students to help them grow as individuals.

PRINTING + DYEING
Students will learn the basics of surface design through printing and dyeing. The class will incorporate drawing and design done 100% by the kids! Students will learn to print using stencils, relief (block printing), and photo emulsion processes, as well as about resist and immersion dyeing with both natural and synthetic dyes. With their printed and dyed fabrics, students will create finished products through sewing such as bags, garments, and home wares.

Pick up is available for PS 321, PS 372, and PS 58. Please be sure to enter your child’s school and age information upon registration, although you will also be asked to provide this information in your After School packet. If you are dropping off your child, you may do so any time between 3-4PM. At 3:30PM we have a short snack and homework time, and begin class promptly at 4PM. Pick up is promptly at 6PM.

All materials are included. 10% discounts are offered for siblings, or if you are registering for more than one After School class at a time either in the same cycle, or in future cycles during the school year. To register for more than one class at a time, please call us at 718-369-0222!
