is a chess teacher and occasional tournament player. He has worked with local, state, regional and national chess clubs to help understand and improve their knowledge of chess. As the chess coach and advisor of the Columbia High School chess team for almost 17 years, he helped the team accomplish multiple wins in local and state tournaments, including a state championship and several individual players’ best in category status. He reorganized and ran the Essex County Chess League, organizing as many as 15 schools to compete in duel and championship tournaments.
