Joy Barnes-Johnson, professional development, adult basic, and secondary science education over the span of her career. Having earned degrees in Urban Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Chemistry, she enjoys the challenge of interdisciplinary STEM literacy. She currently works in secondary education and consults for several STEM Education and training projects. Her research agenda is based in an equity framework that she calls EqSTrEAM educational responses exploring disparate constructs around race, gender, class, ability and academic agency. She will be honored by the NJ Education Association with the 2019 MLK Jr. Human & Civil Rights Award.
