GENERAL INFORMATION
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Any person 16 years of age (not enrolled in high school) and over may attend. Some courses require trade experience while others have specific prerequisites.
REGISTRATION: NEW - Save time and register online. Visit the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School district website at www.mcvts.net. Click on MCVTS Adult Education Information then click Adult Evening School. This will bring you to our online catalog where you can view course descriptions by career area categories. Select the course you want to take and pay online by credit card. Print your receipt and bring it with you to the first night of class.
ATTENDANCE: We recommend students attend all of the scheduled class sessions. Most courses meet from 7 PM to 10 PM one evening per week for nine weeks. Others meet for the entire semester while some programs meet throughout the school year. See the course descriptions for specific length of course or program.
CERTIFICATES: Persons who successfully complete a course or certificate program will receive appropriate certificates.
INSURANCE: The Board of Education does not pay any medical or hospital bills incurred as a result of an accident to students in the school. Individuals desiring insurance coverage must purchase coverage privately.
NOTES: Classes may be cancelled due to weather. Lost time for cancelled classes is not made up and not subject to refunds. The school reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or combine classes when enrollment is insufficient or other scheduling problems exist.
ONE-STOP CAREER CENTER RESOURCE PARTNER: Middlesex County Vocational & Technical Schools is a One-Stop Career Center Resource Partner. Middlesex County’s One Stop Career Centers are part of a universal access system that has combined local employment and training programs into easily accessible centers.
NJ NEXT STOP ONLINE CAREER PLANNING TOOL: The New Jersey Next Stop web site provides a direct connection between the skills and education that employers want and those that students need to be successful in high-demand jobs in New Jersey. This unique web site is part of a statewide Ready for the Job initiative and partnership between the New Jersey Department of Education, State Employment and Training Commission and the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. NJNextStop.org is packed with in-depth information about critical skills, jobs in demand, education and training requirements and salaries. The web site features an ever-changing array of interesting articles, interview and advice to help students who are taking their first steps toward careers and college. In addition, Career Fuel, a free monthly newsletter, focuses on the demand skills students need and different pathways to gain these skills. New features on the site include career interest quizzes to help students make informed career choices and a connection to the States’ Career Cluster and New Jersey industries.
IN-PERSON REGISTRATION for the Winter Semester will take place at the East Brunswick and Piscataway Adult Evening Schools from 5 to 8 pm on January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
IN-PERSON REGISTRATION for the Spring Semester will take place at the East Brunswick and Piscataway Adult Evening Schools from 5 to 8 pm on March 19th, 20th and 21st.
REFUNDS: A full refund applies when a course or program is cancelled for administrative reasons prior to the first scheduled session. A pro-rated refund applies when the same occurs after classes have begun. NO REFUNDS ARE OFFERED AFTER THE SECOND CLASS MEETING WHEN A STUDENTWITHDRAWS. Should the school exercise the right to combine similar classes, no refunds will be offered. No refunds will be given for one day and two day classes unless it is requested 10 days before the class begins. Application Fee and Registration Fee for adult certificate programs are non-refundable regardless of cause for separation.
