Certificate Programs are designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking to change classifications or acquire new skills within a career area. Successful completers of a sequence of courses earn a certificate and in some cases credit hours earned may be applied to a registered apprenticeship program. Many certificate programs require a high school diploma or equivalent for licensure.

  

Admissions Process:
1.  Attend an Admissions Information Session.
2.  Submit an online application and $25 non-refundable fee. 
3.  Attend an Interview with program personnel.
4.  Submit official documentation of high school education (where applicable).
5.  Fall Certificate Programs start September 2012.

ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (180 Sessions)

This Electrical Technology Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment within the electrical trades. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. Eight modules include classroom and hands-on instruction, field trips and seminars. Successful completers obtain an OSHA card and credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi Craft Basics; Alternating Current Loads; Magnetism, Conductors & Insulators; Motor Controls; Tools & Supports: Electrical; Transformers & Motors; and Electrical Circuits. Classes meet Monday through Friday at the Piscataway Campus. Interested students can apply online at www.mcvts.net. Upon receipt of your application, you will be scheduled for an interview.

 

HEAT, VENTILATION, AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (180 Sessions)

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level positions in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking to change classifications or acquire new skills within this field. Successful completers earn an OSHA Card and Refrigerant Handling certification. Credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi-Craft Basics; AC Basics & Refrigerants; Sheet Metal Basics; Domestic Appliances; Heating Fundamentals, and Principles of Refrigeration. Classes meet Monday through Friday at the Piscataway Campus. Interested students can apply online at www.mcvts.net. Upon receipt of your application, you will be scheduled for an interview.


MANICURIST (90 sessions)

Successful completion of the 300 hour course of instruction in manicuring qualifies students to take the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling Manicuring Exam. The curriculum includes theory and clinical instruction in the following courses: State Law Rules and Regulations and the State Board Exam; Professionalism; Safety and Health; Sanitation and Bacteria; Manicure and Pedicure; Disease and Disorders of the Heel and Foot; Anatomy of Hand, Arm, Foot and Leg; Skin, Depilatories, Nail Tips and Extensions; Nail Wraps, Nail Gels, Sculptured Nail Acrylic, Nail Art; First Aid, Chemicals and Chemistry; and Salon Management. Fees do not include textbooks & kit. Pre-requisite: HS diploma or equivalent for licensure. The program starts in September and February of each school year. PLUMBING TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (180 Sessions)

The Plumbing Technology Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment within the plumbing trades. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. Students participate in classroom and hands-on instruction, field trips and seminars. Successful completers obtain an OSHA Card and credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi-Craft Basics; AC Basics & Refrigerants; Pumps & Transit; Drainage In Single Family Dwellings; Plumbing A House & Inspections; Potable Water & Appliances; and Tools & Supports: Plumbing. Classes meet Monday through Friday at the Piscataway Campus. Interested students can apply online at www.mcvts.net. Upon receipt of your application, you will be scheduled for an interview.

 

SKIN CARE SPECIALIST/ ESTHETICIAN (180 Sessions)

Successful completion of the 600 hour course of instruction in Skin Care qualifies students to take the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling: Skin Care Specialist Exam. The curriculum includes theory and clinical instruction in the following courses: Skin Care Treatments (Facials); Skin Analysis And Skin Care Products; Make-Up and Paraffin Treatments; State Law - Rules And Regulations; Safety; Bacteriology; Anatomy; Physiology; Nutrition; and Business Practices. Class size is limited. Prerequisite: HS diploma or equivalent for licensure. Classes meet in the evening, Monday through Friday at the Piscataway Campus.
