Certificate Programs are designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking to change classifications or acquire new skills within a career area. Successful completers of a sequence of courses earn a certificate and in some cases credit hours earned may be applied to a registered apprenticeship program. Many certificate programs require a high school diploma or equivalent for licensure.

  

Admissions Process:
 
 Submit an online application and $25 non-refundable fee. 
 Attend the basic skills test.
 Fall Certificate Programs start September 2024.



ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

This Electrical Technology Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment within the electrical trades. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. Eight modules include classroom and hands-on instruction, field trips and seminars. Successful completers obtain an OSHA card and credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi Craft Basics; Alternating Current Loads; Magnetism, Conductors & Insulators; Motor Controls; Tools & Supports: Electrical; Transformers & Motors; and Electrical Circuits. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 1-5 PM at the East Brunswick Campus. 
 

 

HEATING, VENTILATION, AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level positions in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking to change classifications or acquire new skills within this field. Successful completers earn an OSHA Card and Refrigerant Handling certification. Credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi-Craft Basics; AC Basics & Refrigerants; Sheet Metal Basics; Domestic Appliances; Heating Fundamentals, and Principles of Refrigeration. Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 5-10 PM at the Piscataway Campus. 

 

 

PLUMBING TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

The Plumbing Technology Certificate Program prepares the student for entry-level employment within the plumbing trades. It is designed for individuals interested in changing careers as well as those who are looking for first time employment in the field. Students participate in classroom and hands-on instruction, field trips and seminars. Successful completers obtain an OSHA Card and credit hours earned may be applied to the related instruction component of a registered apprenticeship program. Curriculum includes a program orientation and instruction in the following courses: Multi-Craft Basics; AC Basics & Refrigerants; Pumps & Transit; Drainage In Single Family Dwellings; Plumbing A House & Inspections; Potable Water & Appliances; and Tools & Supports: Plumbing. Classes meet Monday through Thusday from 12-5 PM at the Piscataway Campus.
