The mission of the before and after school programs is to provide district children with quality care in a safe, recreational environment that fosters mutual respect and offers children a wide variety of developmentally appropriate and interesting activities.

Supervision is provided by teachers or experienced adults. Sunrise/Sunset is open every day school is open. Sunrise/Sunset operates in each of the Districts' elementary schools.


SUNRISE - 7:00am to the start of school: breakfast, quiet games.
SUNSET - dismissal to 6:30pm: physical activities, homework, study, enrichment activities, snacks, relaxation and occasional trips or special programs.

Welcome to SUMMER PLUS!  We are pleased to offer our students a wide variety of enriching and exciting programssuch as arts and crafts, hands-on science, sports, computers, drama, swimming, tennis, soccer, etc. All activities

are held at the Frelinghuysen Middle School, with the exception of swimming, which is held at MorristownHigh School.

                                    “Great Summers” is a 6-week program.

•Students entering or completing Kindergarten will participate in “CALLING ALL KIDS"

Participants in this program will stay together as a group and still have an opportunity to experience a wide variety of programs in the Arts, sports and recreation, and academic enrichment.  Daily programs will include such courses as Down Where It’s Wetter, Fun, Fitness, and Friendship, Summer Reading Magic, One Fish, Two Fish, Swimming, etc.  Scheduling of programs is dependent upon enrollment.

You wouldn’t normally think about it, but life truly is surrounded by nature…..from sheets and pillows to books, fruit, and furniture.  In this new course students will explore the world of science by taking a look at where they live, the places they go, and the things they do.  Science is everywhere!

 

New! BOGGLE THE MIND! (Gr. 2-8)

Don’t miss a chance to boost your brain power and hone essential critical-thinking skills while having loads of fun challenging your friends in games, puzzles, and exciting activities….This will be one of your favorites this summer!

 

COMPUTER GAMES (Gr. 1-8)

Playing games and learning have never been as much fun as they are on the computer! Join us as we explore an unlimited supply of well-known and new games.

 

DIGITAL  PHOTOGRAPHY  (Gr. 3-8)

Aim! Click! Develop! Learn how to use a digital camera and basic photography skills that go with it. After mastering these skills, incorporate the photographs into journals, scrapbooks, and albums.

 

New! DINOSAURS ROCK!! (Gr. 1-3)

Attention dinosaur fans!!  Join this exciting trip through time and learn about the giants of long ago!!  Activities include reading, writing, computer projects, 3-D games, playing and creating your very own dinosaur creatures.  This will truly be the land before time!

 

New! DOES IT REALLY EXIST? (Gr. 2-7) (PM only)

UFOs.  Aliens.  Ghosts.  Are they real?  Learn about the truth and fantasy behind strange phenomenon that fascinate us.  Can we prove it with science?  Or will it remain…..UNEXPLAINED?

 

DOUBLE DARE YOU (Gr. 3-8)

How often will dice land on double sevens?  What are the chances that a tossed coin will land on heads?  In this math program students will participate in a variety of activities and games as they investigate probability, sequence, problem solving, fractions, patterns and more.

 

DOWN WHERE IT’S WETTER – UNDER THE SEA (Gr. 1-4)

Take an undersea adventure!!  Dive into the awesome world beneath the sea and investigate the creatures of the ocean!!  Students will use art, books, music, etc., to explore the world of the sea – its sights – its sound – it’s magic.

 

New! EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC (Gr. 1-8) (Gr. 1-3/Gr. 4-8)

Join us as we plan a trip to the fantastic MagicKingdom!  In this new math course, students will plan an entire trip to Disney World---they will research different websites for flights – explore the different theme parks – schedule events and activities – create models, pictures and posters of the attractions – as well as souvenirs they might find.

 

New! EXPLORING THE WORLD WIDE WEB (Gr. 1-4)

Explore the World Wide Web as we navigate to different learning and game websites each day.  Enjoy learning about new educational sites including puzzle sites, math games, sports and more!  Each student will create a booklet to use at home of websites they tried during the course.

 

New!  FLICKER: GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR KIDS (Gr. 3-8)

This new course will enhance the computer literacy, art and creativity skills of the participants.  Students will use Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop and other computer programs to create their own original and printable games, cards, calendars, logos, cd covers, tee shirts and other unique projects.

 

New! FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD!! (Gr. 3-8) (PM only)

Like to eat?   Like to be creative? Well, this course is for you! We’ll use the science of chemistry and biology to make our own edible creations.  But that’s just the beginning!  Learn about healthy eating habits with the food pyramid and the track our food takes in our bodies once we eat it.  We’ll even make some trips to the grocery store to read some labels and choose our ingredients for our culinary masterpieces!!

 

New! FRACTIONS AND FIXINS’ (Gr. 2-4/4-8)

Two cups of flour --- one half a cup of sugar --- two tablespoons of vanilla --- half a cup of butter --- cooking is a continual lesson in math --- with a delicious result at the end of the problem.  In this new course, students will enhance their skills in fractions, problem solving, measurements, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and much more, while they prepare a selection of delicious foods to eat.

 

GREAT MOVIES --- BAD SCIENCE! (Gr. 3-8)

Today’s movie makers create scenes that look amazingly real, yet sometimes lack the basic principles of science.  In this course, students will look at special effects in such movies as “The Terminator” and “The Day After Tomorrow” – and compare the effects to actual scientific principles.

 

MATH MANIA (Gr. 3-4)

Enjoy challenging activities and exciting games that will reinforce and enhance basic skills from the mathematics curriculum. This course will increase mathematical confidence and keep those math skills fresh over the summer vacation.

 

MATH QUEST (Gr. 5-7) 

Multiply with madness, do daring double division, factor fragmented fractions, decimate and wallop wacky word problems as you sharpen your math skills.  Discover all the uses for math through exciting games, interesting activities and problem-solving puzzles.  Let the math adventure begin!!

 

MEGA FUN MATH GAMES (Gr. 1-4)

Make your way through a crocodile shortcut --- take a walk up the number ladder --- get lost in the magic mathematical maze – Have fun playing a host of games such as Factor Bowling, Remainder Raccoon, Multiple Alley, Smelly Mountain, Gopher Golf…..and much, much more.  All these games will be fun to play while they strengthen the student’s skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions and more.

 

New! SUPER SCIENCE SLEUTHS (Gr. 2-4)

Have you ever wondered how or why something happens?  Become a science detective and  a super sleuth of science discovery!  Join us for lots of hands-on experiments as we explore color, matter, chemistry, earth science.  Who knows what we may find!!

 

SUPER SLIMY SCIENCE (Gr. 1-4)

This class will be oozing with fun!!!  In this hands-on gooey science class students will explore the science of really yucky things like sticky and slimy slime.  They will look at what animals make and do to help them survive but make us say “Yuck”! --- Make slime --- use microscopes --- explore the creepy and crawly --- have a squishy good time!!

 

New!  THE PIG OR THE WOLF (Gr. 1-4)

In this new program students will read famous and lesser known fairy tales and create projects to enhance their knowledge of the tales as well as their creativity and language and motor skills.  As we enter the fairy tale world, we will grow beanstalks, perform plays, write our own tales and talk about the meanings of the stories we read.

 

New! WORLD WITHOUT WATER (Gr. 2-5) (PM only)

What would happen to our Earth without water?  How could that affect the way we live?  How about our weather?  Discover just how important water is to us by learning about the Water Cycle and what kind of weather is creating it.  Have fun with hands on experiments, videos and projects, as well as becoming a moving molecule around the earth.

 

YOU ARE EATING MY EXPERIMENT (Gr. 1-4)

Learn about science in new and tasty ways!!  By cooking fun and tasty foods you will – use the science of chemistry to mix and heat ingredients to make something new, like bread from flour and  popcorn from corn kernels, -- learn about biology when you investigate fruits, seeds, grains, herbs and other products from nature --- and while you’re learning you are eating, eating, eating!!

New! ANIMALS A TO Z (Gr. 1-3) (AM only)

Anacondas, baboons, and cheetahs -- Oh my!!  Come explore the wonderful world of animals.  Each day, students will concentrate on a different animal while focusing on a letter of the alphabet.  The children will discover interesting facts through literature and videos,

as well as create crafts based on the animal.  Come join the fun!  It is going to be a “wild” ride!!

 

New!  CELEBRATE: Holidays Around the World (Gr. 2-5)

People all over the world celebrate their holidays with wonderful foods, beautiful decorations, lively music and traditional games.  In this new program students will learn about a variety of American and international holidays by eating the foods and engaging in activities similar to those of the actual celebrations.

 

New! DINOSAURS ROCK!! (Gr. 1-3)

Attention dinosaur fans!!  Join this exciting trip through time and learn about the giants of long ago!!  Activities include reading, writing, computer projects, 3-D games, playing and creating your very own dinosaur creatures.  This will truly be the land before time!

 

New! FIESTA ESPANOL (Gr. 1-4)

Would you like to learn some Spanish words and phrases?  Here’s your chance!  Come explore the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures.  Through a variety of songs, games, and books we will learn the words for colors, animals, family, foods, numbers and more in Spanish.  During our Dia de los Muertos fiesta, we’ll break a piñata and decorate our own Calavera masks.

 

GREAT BATTLES (Gr. 3-8)

Ever wonder what it would be like to match wits against your friends in a military conflict such as Cannae or Gettysburg?   From the ancient Egyptian battle of Megiddo in 1469 BC to Pearl Harbor, great battles have had an enormous impact on the shaping of history.  Each class will focus on a certain battle, the commanders, the size of the opposing forces, the battle plans, military strategies, and how history has been shaped due to the conflict.  This is a class that history lovers do not want to miss!

 

New! LOAVES OF FUN (Gr. 1-4)

Take a trip around the world learning about, preparing and eating some of the many types of delicious bread that come from different cultures and eras.  In medieval times, a priest invented a food called “prayer bread.”  What is the modern name for this dish?  Pretzels!!!  Students will learn to make these, and many other breads in this new course.

 

New! MYSTERIOUS TOMB (Gr. 3-8)

Come explore Ancient Egypt through the world of art.  Become an Egyptian king or queen by making and wearing the headdresses and jewelry that you make; decipher hieroglyphics using a rosetta-like stone as well as your own name plaque.  Explore the ancient tombs of the pharaohs and the treasures hidden within….and even make some of them!!

 

New!  PASSPORT TO THE EASTERN HEMISPHERE (Gr. 3-8)

In this class students will explore Egypt, India, China, and early Mesopotamia without leaving Morristown.  Through their travels,  the students will investigate customs, currency, climate, location and other facts that they would need to know if they were traveling to a specific country.  Each time their research is complete, their “passports” will be stamped and they will be invited to move on to the next country.

 

 

In this new art class students will create self portraits and portraits of others in the class using a variety of media…it may be out of watch parts and tin to be three-dimensional; or paint…..or clay…..or collage.  See how easy it is to look at yourself in so many different ways.

 

New! AND THE OSCAR GOES TO…..(Gr. 1-8)

This art class is going to the movies as inspiration for their unique projects!!  Students will create a variety of works based on people, places and events of some of our favorite films.  They may create a favorite movie character out of clay, design a scene that goes with that character, design a movie poster or a costume.  Who knows….we may even have a red carpet!!

 

ARTISTS, ARTISTS EVERYWHERE! (Gr. 1-4)

Create and experiment with a variety of art materials and techniques. Painting, drawing, puppets, T-shirt designs and clay sculpting are some of the activities that will be offered for our busy young artists. (Bring a smock or big T-shirt to protect clothes.)

 

New!! BUNCHES OF BASKETS (Gr. 2-8)

In this new course, students will weave a variety of baskets, with unique designs, using materials such as straw, yarn, cloth, etc.

 

BACKSTAGE BROADWAY (Gr. 4-8) (AM only)

Put your creativity to work designing, drawing, painting, and building!  Students will create the scenery, masks, props, etc. for the performances of scenes from some of our favorite Broadway shows, such as “Beauty and the Beast,.” “Lion King, “Grease,” etc.

 

DEDICATED TO DRAWING (Gr. 2-8)

This course is for students with a strong interest in drawing.  Students will work to develop their technical level of drawing proficiency using a wide variety of materials such as pencils, craypas, and colored pencils.

 

DOWN WHERE IT’S WETTER – UNDER THE SEA (Gr. 1-4)

D-VINE  D-ZINE (Gr. 3-8)

Have you ever wished you could decorate your own room?  This program will help you do just that.  You’ll learn some new skills that you can use to complete tons of fun projects with which to decorate your room, such as a bulletin board, fleece pillow case, decorative beaded picture and many more!  After all, it’s your room!

 

New! EDIBLE ART (Gr. 1-8) (Gr. 1-4/Gr. 3-8)

In this deliciously artistic class students will create art projects made out of food.  They will plan and create a unique design such as an edible scene, a mosaic or a sculpture which will be translated into a creative, beautiful and (best of all) edible work of art, using fruits, cupcakes, cereal, cookies, vegetables…and a host of other ingredients.  Too good to eat but too good not to!

 

LEAPING LINES, CURIOUS and DANCING DRAGONS (Gr. 1-4)

Attention budding artists!  Expand your drawing skills by learning to draw interesting people with expression, fantasy creatures, aliens, monsters and fantastical landscapes.  Explore fantasy and creativity as you learn about story telling through image as you examine well-known books and illustrators.

 

PAPER MACHE MONSTERS (Gr. 2-5)

Monsters have been part of the movie-making industry for many years.  Students in this class will be given the assignment to create models of monsters and other animals,  famous or original.  Using a host of materials, they will design their models and bring them to three-dimensional life.

 

PASSION FOR JEWELRY (Gr. 3-8)

Do you love jewelry?  Is there a special necklace or bracelet you would love to have?  Here is your opportunity to design your own jewelry and then make it.  In this course students will learn the techniques for making jewelry out of silver, beads, clay, wire, etc. and then create their own “original” piece.

 

New! PIECES AND PLACES: Quilting the places you like to be (Gr. 3-8)

Create an original quilt featuring symbols and pictures of your favorite state….or your favorite place….it could be a city…a beach…your house…even a place you haven’t been but want to go some day.  Your personal and conversational quilt will be a treasure to cherish always or a wonderful gift to give someone special.

 

PUSH, PULL, POUND AND ROLL (PPPR) I and II

Enjoy the thrill of turning a lump of clay into a work of art!! This is a class designed to bring out a child’s creative talents using various methods of working with clay --- From tiles to jewelry to sculpture --- All NEW projects --- all NEW creations!!

 

SCULPTURES R US (Gr. 1-8)

Take a look around and you will notice that sculptures are everywhere…made of everything!!!  In this course students will create 3-dimensional sculptures using a variety of media…cardboard…straw…wood, etc.

 

New! SWEET CREATIONS: DECORATING YOUR COOKIES AND CAKES (Gr. 3-8)

In this new program students will learn the art of cake decorating.  Using a variety of decorating tools and techniques the students will design cookie, cupcake and cake icings with their own original decorations.

 

New!  THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (Gr. 3-8)

This jewelry making course is for students who have already taken “Passion for Jewelry.”  In this program students will refine their skills while they design and create original pieces of unique jewelry.

 

WEAVING AND BEADING (Gr. 3-8)

Explore some traditional and not so traditional techniques of weaving using a simple loom made in class. Experience ancient and modern techniques of working with beads and other materials by combining designs with charms, texture and color to create jewelry and other accessories. You will enjoy  the process of properly threading the loom, changing fiber color and blending technique with color and design to weave bracelets, chokers, belts and even baskets.

 

WONDERFUL WORLD OF CARTOONING (Gr. 2-8)

Cartooning is an excellent example of creative thinking.  This course will introduce students to the basic techniques of drawing cartoons; creating characters, determining basic details, designing backgrounds.  They will learn how to create, design, illustrate and tell a story featuring their own original characters and stories.

This year our participants will sing and dance their way through some of the best numbers of some of our favorite Broadway shows! – We’re looking at Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Music Man, Shrek, Bye Bye Birdie, Little Shop of Horrors,

FOOTLOOSE (Gr. 2-8)

Using a variety of popular music, learn how to express yourself with new moves that are creative and exciting.  Traditional movement (like line-dancing), hip-hop, African and Latin dance moves, combined with a little street “funk” are sure to create a unique dance experience.

 

GUITAR I (Gr. 3-8) (AM only) (6-week students ONLY)

From folk to blues, classical to rock…learn to play guitar in just six weeks!  Understand different styles of guitar and guitar playing while taking the first steps in reading music and playing chords.

 

GUITAR II (Gr. 3-8) (AM only) (6-week students ONLY)

If you are taking guitar lessons or have studied guitar before, this is the class for you!  Join and explore the art of guitar playing and learn chord progressions, techniques and styles from different time periods.

 

New!  IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS (Gr. 1-4) (PM/6 week students ONLY)

Some of the best songs from Broadway shows featured children singing and dancing their way across the stage.  In this new program students will practice and perform some of the greatest kids songs from some of the greatest musicals of all times!  You know what we’re thinking about:  Annie, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz….and more.

 

New! PEP SQUAD 101 (Gr. 1-7)

We’ve got spirit ---- Yes we do! – You can have that spirit, too!  Be prepared to support your favorite team with the cheers you create and practice in class.  Students will make posters, shoe and hair accessories, and learn to face paint.

 

PIANO KEYBOARDING I (BEGINNING) (Gr. 1-8) (6-week students ONLY)

Now is your chance to gain the skills of piano keyboarding.  Students will learn to play musical selections using their own (classroom use) keyboard.  A performance will be held at the end of the summer program.

 

PIANO KEYBOARDING II (Gr. 1-8) (6-week students ONLY) (PM only)

Students will expand their knowledge and skills of basic keyboarding as they learn and practice musical selections for an end-of-summer performance.  (For students who have taken lessons elsewhere or who have completed two to three years of Summer Plus piano lessons.)

 

READING/WRITING

 

New! AUTHOR ADVENTURES (Gr. 1-3)

Enter the wonderful world of books and literacy as we immerse our students in books that are already written and those they will write themselves!  We will read books to ourselves and out loud as well as create and illustrate our own original works.

 

CAN’T STOP READING (Gr. 3-8)

Reading --- it’s everywhere!  Come explore just how much fun reading can be.  We will read a novel and many other shorter pieces as we increase our reading and comprehension skills as well as love of reading.  You may use your Summer Reading book in this class.

P is for Popcorn---A is for Applesauce---J is for Jellybeans---Students will never enjoy learning the alphabet as much as they will by eating their way through it!!!  Participants will create poems, graphs, art projects and especially food, as they work their way through the letters of the alphabet.

 

New!  I WANT TO BE A WRITER (Gr. 1-4)

A beginning writing course for primary school students.  In this program, young readers and writers will create their own original endings to stories they read as well as write and illustrate their own books.

 

ONE MINUTE MYSTERIES --- THEIRS AND YOURS (Gr. 3-6)

Students will develop their reasoning, problem-solving and analytical thinking and writing skills by reading short mysteries, figuring out the solutions, and writing their own stories to share with their classmates.

 

STRUCTURED  WRITING WORKSHOP (Gr. 3-8)

This course will provide students with intensive practice in writing effectively.  They will formulate topic ideas and sentences, develop cohesive ideas, outline material as well as work on the importance of word choice, grammar and vocabulary development.

 

SUMMER READING MAGIC (Gr. 1-4)

Summer Reading Magic will provide students an opportunity to reinforce their reading skills by reading throughout the summer.  Each week participants will journey with (at least) one new book and do related activities such as story and journal writing, skits, puzzles --- even produce their own book.  Reading strategies will be strengthened – and students will discover the magical world of reading!!

New!  THIS LITTLE PIGGIE WENT TO MARKET (Gr. 1-3)

Baa, baa blacksheep…hickory dickory dock…All around the mulberry bush…eeny, meeney, miney, moe……classic nursery rhymes known to us all.  In this new course, students will read well and lesser known nursery rhymes as well as write and illustrate their own original rhymes.

 

WRITER’S ODYSSEY (Gr. 3-8)

In this course you will brainstorm and produce short stories, poetry, non-fiction, journal entries, plays, advertisements, and even do some illustrating.  We’ll learn to dig for good ideas and turn them into great writing.  Don’t forget to bring your imagination!!

 

 

BASEBALL (Gr. 1-8)

Play Ball! Enjoy America’s favorite summer sport. There will be instruction in fielding, throwing, hitting, base running, pitching, and general baseball strategy. (Younger students will play T-Ball.)

 

Back for another season!  Learn techniques in ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defensive moves.

 

Fun, fitness and friendship will be stressed in this sports and recreation program that will give students a chance to participate in cooperative and team games, parachutes, relay races, and a host of other energetic and creative activities.

 

Experience and participate in the essentials of track and field – stretching – long/short distance running/sprinting; long jumps, relay races and more.  We’ll have our own end of summer Olympics to see who takes home the gold!!!

 

A great opportunity to learn the fundamentals of one of the fastest growing sports in the country.  No experience necessary; equipment will be provided.

 

Some of the oldest games in the world are still some of the most popular today!  Come learn the history, basic rules and strategies of games such as badminton, bocce ball, bean bags, horseshoes, ultimate Frisbee and kickball.  We’ll spend most of our time “on the lawn” trying out and playing these fun outdoor games.

 

No matter what size, shape, or age you are, yoga is an excellent form of exercise.  It helps develop body awareness and a positive self-image, it improves posture…..it’s fun, it’s fun to do with others, it provides an immediate sense of accomplishment and it teaches kids the life skills of relaxation and centering.

 

If it’s played with a net, chances are you’ll be playing it here!!  Badminton – ping pong – racquetball – volleyball….Learn the basic techniques, rules and skills needed to play these exciting games!  No equipment needed.

 

We’ve got spirit ---- Yes we do! – You can have that spirit, too!  Be prepared to support your favorite team with the cheers you create and practice in class.  Students will make posters, shoe and hair accessories, and learn to face paint.

 

 Increase your enjoyment of the game by improving your skills in dribbling, heading, kicking, trapping and throw ins.  Learn correct soccer techniques that will make the game more exciting and interesting.  (Repeats welcome!)

 

Our program allows sufficient time for swimming instruction as well as a period for practice and recreational swim – all under the supervision of certified lifeguards.  Our American Red Cross swim lessons will be held at the MorristownHigh School

pool so that our swimmers will swim – rain or shine!  Swimming classes will be assigned by age and instructed by ability.  (All children are tested and must wear our safety devices until told to remove them.)  Please note:  swimming classes meet for 2 consecutive periods. (Please bring swimwear to Summer Plus on day 1.)

 

Learn to play tennis – a sport for a lifetime.  In this popular program students will learn and practice the skills, techniques and strategies for singles and doubles play.  Students will be divided by skill level:  beginner, intermediate and advanced.  Enrollment is limited. (Intermediate – at least one year of Summer Plus tennis)

 

TOUCH FOOTBALL (Gr. 3-8) (AM only)

Practice for the fall season in this action packed class.  Skills in throwing, catching, punting and kicking will be taught.  Exciting play off games will culminate the season.  This class is offered for boys and girls.  (Repeats welcome!)

This art class is going to the movies as inspiration for their unique projects!!  Students will create a variety of works based on people, places and events of some of our favorite films.  They may create a favorite movie character out of clay, design a scene that goes with that character, design a movie poster or a costume.  Who knows….we may even have a red carpet!!

CHESS: THE GAME OF KINGS (Gr. 1-8) (Beginner and Intermediate)

Learn how to play the most popular game ever invented! – where the game came from – the rules of the game – how the pieces move – and some of the important strategies for winning.  Figure out how to use all the pieces on the board to defeat your opponents in one of the most exciting and challenging games around today.  If you already know how to play, the course will give you a chance to put your skills to the test as you compete in a chess tournament with your fellow players.

 

CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE, AND MORE CHOCOLATE (Gr. 1-8)

Dark! Light! Bittersweet! – Chocolate kisses!!! --- Chocolate fudge!!! – The wonderful world of chocolate!!  In this course students will explore CHOCOLATE: books about chocolate --- and, of course – we will be creating lots and lots and pots and pots of chocolate!!

Playing games and learning have never been as much fun as they are on the computer! Join us as we explore an unlimited supply of well-known and new games.

 

DIGITAL  PHOTOGRAPHY  (Gr. 3-8)

Aim! Click! Develop! Learn how to use a digital camera and basic photography skills that go with it. After mastering these skills, incorporate the photographs into journals, scrapbooks, and albums.

 

D-VINE  D-ZINE (Gr. 3-8)

Have you ever wished you could decorate your own room?  This program will help you do just that.  You’ll learn some new skills that you can use to complete tons of fun projects with which to decorate your room, such as a bulletin board, fleece pillow case, decorative beaded picture and many more!  After all, it’s your room!

WEAVING AND BEADING (Gr. 3-8)

Explore some traditional and not so traditional techniques of weaving using a simple loom made in class. Experience ancient and modern techniques of working with beads and other materials by combining designs with charms, texture and color to create jewelry and other accessories. You will enjoy  the process of properly threading the loom, changing fiber color and blending technique with color and design to weave bracelets, chokers, belts and even baskets.

 

WHEELS IN MOTION (Gr.1-8)
