Crash Flash III: Creative Uses of Flash
This class is a new addition, also due to popular demand! It is meant for those who understand how to use flash, but now want to become more creative in their approach. After a quick review about using multiple flashes in TTL wireless mode and in manual
mode with radio slaves, Julia will demonstrate and discuss creative approaches to using small strobes, such as how to light two people in the front seat of a car as they drive down an alley at dusk. Other demonstrations may include shooting from the outside/in, such as lighting people inside a storefront or picture window, or lighting somebody outside at night.
After working as a class on one creative lighting set-up, the participants will then be put into teams of three people, where they will work with agency-represented models in pre-determined locations. The last two hours of class will be spent painting with light, a technique used with a flashlight, a tripod, and an open-shutter. The shoot will begin in the studio and end on the Venice Boardwalk after dark.
Prerequisite: “Crash Flash II: Multiple Flash” or knowledge in how to use multiple flashes in both TTL wireless and manual mode with radio slaves.
